A is for Abundance. A-Z challenge - Words of change -

abundance |əˈbəndəns|
noun: a very large quantity of something

My abundance story is a bit 'special' - because it has to do with hearing voices while I was in a New Age shop, looking for a bell.  I saw and was about to touch it, when a message, in my head, said "Everything you need you already have." It was a gentle, calm male voice, not just a memory of my mum telling me not to touch everything.

No point looking over my shoulder, this speaker was in my brain. I was curious, and a little spooked. I didn't buy the bell.  I never heard that message again, but I thought about it every time I looked at bells, shoes, junk food or anything else I didn't really need.

Fast forward 3 months and still no bell, the market season was coming to an end, and the message still made no sense until early one Autumn morning. My neighbour, a big punch drunk sailor, came to visit me after his 4 month trip to Europe, with a gift. He was a man of few words, especially when he was sober. "This is for you, I thought you might like it"

His carefully wrapped gift was unexpected. I had sailed with him a few times and helped him seal the deal on his apartment but I was surprised to even get a visit. I screamed with delight when I unwrapped the present and saw my new bell.  He's not into 'the hocus pocus' but he thought it was strange, both the voice and that he had bought me the bell. It's old fashioned looking, painted light green with a wooden handle. It wasn't anything like the bells I had seen, but 3 months ago my guiding voice was right. I did already have what I needed, it was already mine just in another part of the world. My perfect bell,  it's tone, and the memory, are both lasting.

"Everything you need you already have."

If you're reading this blog then you have abundance in your life.  Can't find a new outfit, it's fine to wear an old one.  Can't find your shoe size, there's a better pair for you, somewhere else.  Feeling jealous that someone else is succeeding - scarcity is invading your thoughts.  There is always plenty of what we need, for everyone, and with the right attitude you can have some too.  Give with abundance, but please don't be greedy, take only what you need.

If you're not getting what you want, can't do it, afraid of it, miserable or apathetic your forgetting abundance, (not all the good ones are taken or gay - they just might look a little different to what you expected :)) -

If your visiting from the A-Z challenge I wish you an abundance of inspiration.

Are you a bit 'special'?  What have your voices told you?

    1. I only ever heard that message once, but the lesson is still with me. The voice has spoken to me a few times since then. One memorable time was a silencing 'Shut up' when I was on an obsession merry-go-round in my mind - of Does he love - does he love me not.

  5. Such a great A-post!

If you have a roof over your head, a plate of food on your table at night, and a bed to retire to at the end of the day, then by world standards, you are very wealthy

Thanks for the reminder that we have an abundance of blessings - we need to learn to recognise it!

    1. When I wrote about how you have abundance if you are reading this, I was thinking if you have a computer you are rich. You reminded me that even being able to read or write is a gift that millions of people in this world never get to experience. Indeed, we have a wealth of abundance.

  7. Oh Laura how funny - not the cult - but my images of you getting out super fast, so many of us stay in dangerous situations because we don't want to embarrass anyone. I'm glad you listened to your voice, and I hope you found a way to meditate without the nasties - solitaire or walking works for some people :)

  9. What a beautiful story! I live reading and about experiences like this. They don't happen to me very often but when they do, the memory does linger, and resurface from time to time.

  10. I couldn't find your A-Z post from the link in your name. - and your google page only has the link for your award post, maybe I'm missing something but that didn't lead me to your other posts either. Anyway - thanks for popping in and feeling the love, I look forward to finding your posts again :)

  11. What a magical story. We live such a life of over-indulgence when most of us already have everything we need.

  12. Hi Ida,

What a thoughtful posting with a profound, powerful message. "Everything you need you already have." Ah yes and my inner child, which tells the truth, has told me, "Gary, you are not defined by your mistakes. What you learn from your mistakes, defines you."

A peaceful, positive day to you, Ida. May you and all those participating in the challenge, find fun, friendship and fulfilment.

    In kindness and goodwill,

    Gary :)

    1. Dear Gary, Yabba Dabba Doh! - I loved your post today, what an amazing talent with words you have, your inner child is lucky to have you - especially because you listen. I have typed and said the word abundance so many times today, all I can think about it a bun dancing - around some cheese and salami perhaps :) Good night and thanks for popping in.

  14. Hi Ida,

Thanks for mentioning the A to Z Challenge over at Repossible! I just signed up for the challenge (I'm a total sucker for any challenge ... ) and got my first post up: A is for Acknowledgment which can relate to what you say above, "I am a healer and writer and it took me 40 years to feel comfortable saying that."

I love the line, as others have also mentioned, "Everything you need you already have." It can be at least as fun (if not more) to discover what you have already or maybe it's "re-discovering."

Thanks for the tip on the A to Z and thanks for your Abundance kickoff post.

    2. Hi Ida,

I got my letter B for the day: B is for Beneficient and in doing so, answered you question about How to Add Links into Comments.

April is going to be fun. ;-)

    3. that is very beneficent of you - thanks for making it easy for me to find your link (both of them) I agree about April being fun - if I manage to get some sleep I might even remember it one day :)

  15. Amazing how that worked out. And we usually have all we need, and that includes what's inside of us.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Beautifully said, and I so agree. I've often heard people have these abilities but aren't very open to exploring them. I've had a few feelings of let's say not being alone while in beautiful nature settings, historic cemeteries etc.

Thanks for your visit, agree with you on the kids too.

leaving you a differnt blog link for another a-z

    1. Sandy I really want to say we are never alone. Then I hear my mothers voice saying the exact opposite and she was right too. I don't consider it an ability more than an experience that I really can't define or completely understand (this isn't hogwarts) but it was a lovely experience overall with a message that has served me well.

  17. Wow! That is such a great story. The world is a freaky place sometimes, in a good way though. I think the fact that we are all able to take part in the A-Z Challenge shows that we have more than enough of what we need already.
    Great post!

  21. Amazing story! And such a good message. You're absolutely right. I tend to feel like I need things all the time. Lately I've been dreaming of a bigger house, which we will need eventually since we have one bedroom that we share with our son, but lately I've been finding ways to make our small space work, and I'm so much happier now that I'm working with what I have rather than wishing I had something else. Thanks for the encouragement!

  25. This is a very thought-provoking piece. I guess it's human nature to never be content. But we really should learn to be grateful for our abundance. Thanks for this. :)

  26. Wow this is awesome! I have had this happen to me before as I am falling asleep so I never remember what they says. I went to a 'psychic shop' (as I call it) and they said it was my angels. It freaked me out I will tell you that much! http://lolaroselifestyle.blogspot.com.au

    1. Lola, I am sure many people have their own interpretations of what the voice is, I have christians tell me God spoke directly to them, traditional new agers like terms like angels, or spirit. I prefer to think of it as a guide or perhaps even just my higher self... I hope your'e not too freaked out...before you go to bed you could ask that you remember any messages you hear, but if you are anything like me - if it's meant to be heard and remembered - it will be loud and clear, and probably at an inconvenient time :)
